WEATHERORD, Texas – It all comes down to this. With just three games left in the regular season, the Weatherford Kangaroos are clinging to the fourth and final playoff spot in their district. The Roos have put together an impressive 24-7 overall record, but their 4-5 district mark has them walking a tightrope heading into the home stretch.
Right now, Weatherford is hanging on to fourth place in the district, trailing Lake Ridge (9-0), North Crowley (7-2), and Crowley (7-3). But Mansfield (4-6) is right behind them, and with only four playoff spots available, there is little room for error.
The next three games—against Lake Ridge, Boswell, and Mansfield—will determine Weatherford’s fate. If they can take at least two of those matchups, their playoff ticket should be secured. But if they stumble, especially in the season finale against Mansfield, things could get complicated fast.
And that’s where the drama really unfolds: the final game of the regular season is at home against Mansfield, the very team chasing them for that last playoff spot. It doesn’t get much bigger than that.
Weatherford’s season has been filled with moments of brilliance and lessons in resilience. Now, they face their biggest challenge yet. Can they rise to the occasion and punch their ticket to the playoffs? Or will their season end in heartbreak at the hands of Mansfield?
We’ll find out soon enough. But one thing is certain: the Roos aren’t going down without a fight.
