Athlete of the Month: Reagan Rees

 

Congratulations to Reagan Rees, Weatherford Athletics Athlete of the Month! Reagan has been a varsity starter for the past two years, demonstrating outstanding skill and leadership on the court. Last year, her talent and commitment earned her 1st Team All-District honors and the title of Defensive MVP. This year, she continues to lead her team as captain.

 

Academically, Reagan is equally impressive, ranking 15th in her class of 554 with an outstanding 4.2 GPA. She plans to attend Texas A&M University, where she will pursue a degree in Business.

 

Beyond athletics and academics, Reagan is a dedicated member of several organizations, including PALS, DECA, National Honor Society, and Roo Crew. Her well-rounded involvement and commitment to excellence make her a role model both on and off the field.

Athlete of the Month: Carter Bruton

 

Weatherford Athletics is proud to spotlight Carter Bruton as Athlete of the Month. Carter, a standout golfer with a remarkable record, has played varsity golf for both of his two years at Weatherford. His skills have been evident from the start, earning him 1st Team All-District honors and the title of Varsity MVP as a freshman.

 

Academically, Carter excels as well, with a weighted GPA of 3.88 and an impressive unweighted GPA of 3.95, ranking 59th in his class. He has his sights set on studying Business, with hopes to attend either Abilene Christian University or Texas Christian University, where he also aspires to continue his golf journey at the collegiate level.

 

Carter’s dedication to golf extends beyond high school competition. He currently holds the rank of 62nd golfer in Texas for the 2027 graduating class and competes as an active member of the American Junior Golf Association, the North Texas PGA All-American Tour, the Texas Junior Golf Tour, and the PGA Jr. League All-Stars.

 

We’re excited to see where Carter’s talents and hard work will take him, both in academics and athletics!

Claire Conner, Junior

Volleyball / Track

Junior Claire Conner is a member of the Lady Roo Varsity Volleyball Team.  She is a three-time letter winner and starter for the Lady Roos. She is also a returning two-time first team all-district performer and a two-time academic all-district selection.  Claire leads the team in kills and is in the top three for digs (263), aces (27), and blocks (20).  Claire is also a member of Lady Roo track team in the spring.  She has a 3.86 GPA and is in the top 10 % of her class and plans to play volleyball in college while earning her degree in Business Administration. 

 

Xavier Craven, Senior

Football / Track

Senior Xavier Craven is a member of the Kangaroo Football Team where he plays running back and is a hurdler for the Kangaroo Track Team in the spring.  Xavier is leading the Roos in rushing on 88 carries for 622 yards which is also good for second overall in District 3-6A.  He is averaging 7.7 yards per carry and has six touchdowns on the season through the first 5 games.  Xavier has rushed for over 100 yards in the last 4 games and in the Royse City game he surpassed the 200-yard rushing mark with 201yards on the ground.  Xavier has a 3.02 GPA and is a member of FCA and DECA.  He has plans to further his playing career in college while pursuing a degree in Business Administration.


August 2024

 

Remi Boone, Sophomore

Cross Country / Track

Remi Boone is a member of the Lady Roo Cross Country and Track team.  She has started this year off with three top ten finishes in the first three meets.  Most recently Remi finished 6th overall in the elite division at the Coach T Invitational which annually has some of the best runners from around the country participating in it.  The week before she placed 2nd overall in Burleson.  Last year she finished 3rd overall at the district meet earning her 1st team all-district honors and then would go on to place in the top 40 at regionals as a freshman.  She is a member of student council and multi-cultural club and has future plans of running cross country while majoring in business at Texas A&M. 

 

Micah Moore, Sr

Football / Basketball / Track

Senior Micah Moore plays football, basketball, and runs track for Weatherford High School.  Micah comes off a year where he lettered in all three sports last year and was named an honorable mention selection at defensive back for football.  He was second on the team in tackles last year with 99 and added four pass break ups and an interception.  Micah was also named first team all Parker County in football and an academic all-district selection in football and basketball.  Micah is also involved in junior leadership and a member of the pickleball club.  He is ranked 54th in his class with a 3.9 GPA.  Micah plans to attend Texas A&M University and wants to pursue a career in engineering.
