Report for district XC Meet
Your running Roos competed in the District 3-6A Cross Country Meet on Friday and made Roo Nation proud! As a whole the teams won 1st place in 3 divisions and 2nd place 1 division.
The morning started off with the varsity Lady Roos running their best race of the year with all team members earning 1st or 2nd team honors. This earned the Lady Roos a 2nd place finish in district. Top 10 and 1st team all-district runners were Rayla Castillo (2nd place), Remi Boone (3rd place), Cheyanne Gorman (8th place), and Macayla Kopacz (10th place). Our 2nd team all-district runners were Nayelli Ordonez and CJ Madrid.
Our second race of the morning brought the men’s team Weatherford High’s 1st district championship in the 6A classification and possibly the 1st in over 25 years! It was a hard-fought win with just a 5-point spread over a strong Paschal High team. Rafael Ordonez led his team to victory with an amazing 4th place finish. Josh Gal and Riley Starling were not far behind earning 1st team honors placing 8th and 9th respectively. Other team members earning 2nd team all-district honors were Braxton Boyer and Kelen Bush placing 12th and 13th. Kris Martinez was district honorable mention. This was a hard earned victory that was the result of training year-round and the 4 years of dedication by our 4 seniors. Please congratulate these young men on a job well done!
The excitement did not stop at the varsity level. Your JV Lady Roos dominated the girls JV division by taking 5 of the first 8 places at the finish line. Madison Pulis, Stella Adams, Sofia White, Paige Blake, and Mia Saldivar placed 3,4,5,7,8 respectively, winning by 14 points. Not to be outdone, the men’s JV took 5 of the first 6 places, just missing a perfect score of 15. Jett Hendrix was crowned the JV district champion with Erick Ibarra, Gerardo Miranda, Milo Proctor, and Tate Nobis on his heels. Daniel Brown rounded out the top 10 finishers placing 8th.
