The Lady Roos opened the 2022 UIL State Softball Playoffs with a 7-0 shutout victory over Byron Nelson at the Lady Roo softball complex Thursday night. Lauren Belles got the win, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 9. Kayleigh Cassels led the offense, going 4 for 4 with 3 singles and a triple, driving in 1 and scoring twice. Sarah Crews had 2 hits with a run scored and 1 RBI, Kaylee Embrey had 2 hits with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI, and Landry Fonseca and Grace Thompson also contributed hits. The Lady Roos will look to complete the sweep tomorrow night at Byron Nelson High School, game time 7 pm.
