The Kangaroo baseball team played Boswell Friday night, in a huge district game for 1st place, and Granbury in a non-district game on Saturday. The Friday night game vs Boswell was a tight pitcher's duel all night. Kannon Kemp got the start on the mound and pitched five strong innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 2 to pick up the win. Grady Moore come on in the 6th inning and was dominate. Grady struck out 4 Pioneers and got 2 others to ground out retiring all 6 hitters to record the save and put the Roos in sole possession of 1st place with a 2-1 victory. Trace Holcomb led the way at the plate with 2 hits and a walk. Holcomb had the game winning RBI with a single up the middle to score Dayton Tockey. Tockey, Jake Williams, and Drew Ortiz also had hits in the contest.
On Saturday the Roos fell short in a loss to Granbury. Ty Sansom, Colton McClure, and Kyle Sauvage all pitched well giving up 0 earned runs in their innings pitched. The offense was led by Tanner Mullins with 3 hits, Juan Mascorro and Chase Akins with 2 hits each. After the games this weekend the Roos are 16-5 and 7-1 in district with two big district games coming up this week vs Trinity. The next home game will be Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
