Weatherford vs. Joshua Wrap-Up
The Weatherford Kangaroos hosted their first Home game of the season as the Joshua Owls came to town to visit. The night started off with an exciting 44-36 victory to get the JV Roos to 1-1 on the short season. The Roos battled the whole game and came away with some clutch free throws in the end to finalize the victory. Nic Reiter was a standout for the game as he scored 25 points was 7-9 from the free throw line and had 11 Rebounds for a double double in the victory. 8 Roos scored in the game giving versatility to the team and keeping the other team off balance.
The Freshman Roos went to battle and came away with a 55-27 win over Joshua keeping their season record unblemished and moving to 2-0. The Scoring again was balanced in this game as Colton McClure led the team with 20 Points while Quinn Stankavage and Brenden Ballard chipped in with 10 and 12 respectively.
The Varsity finished the night off with a hard fought 64-56 victory improving their record to 2-0 on the short season. The Roos were balanced through out the night seeing Darian Gayfield (7 points), Kane Chandler (12 points), Blaine Kapka (7 points), Maddox Stankavage (11 points), Tyler Burns (10 points), and Jaylin Smith (12 points) all get to double digits in the game and fighting a determined Joshua Owls team off late to get the victory. Jaylin Smith was an offensive machine in the second quarter but helped seal the victory with some timely key blocks and rebounds to finish the win.
All in all the night was a great night of Basketball the crowd was exciting and it is going to be a fun year. We will travel to Burleson on Monday to take on the Elks before Thanksgiving. We will then be back at it playing Azle on Tuesday and then hosting the Kangaroo Classic on the Thursday- Friday.
