The Weatherford Kangaroos ran all over the Haltom Buffaloes Thursday night 47-14 at Birdville Fine Arts Athletic Complex. Quarterback Ryan Clark led the charge by running for four touchdowns and throwing for another. On the ground Clark ran for 153 yards and had a long of 46; through the air he had 128 yards including the one long touchdown to Melvin Polk. Polk had three receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown. Polk also came in defensively and shut down one of the top wide receivers in the district.
Defensively the Roos were led by a pair of pick sixes to help put the game away in the second quarter. Senior defensive lineman and captain Gary O'Bannon had one of these from 31 yards out. He also had two tackles and one for loss to go along with his interception returned for a touchdown. The other touchdown came from Junior cornerback Trey Rucker. The very next series after the O'Bannon touchdown Rucker picked off a Haltom pass and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown. After two early scores from Haltom the Roos locked down the Buffaloes thanks to their leading tacklers RJ Smiley and Koby Kidd.
The Roos improved to 3-2 on the year and 2-0 in District 3-6A.
The Roos return to action October 8th at home vs Paschal.
