The boys and girls wrestling teams competed in the UIL State Wrestling Championships this past weekend. Weatherford once again had a great showing with 3 state placers. Senior Mason Woodward made the state finals and came up just short of being a state champion, losing to a 3 time State Champion in the finals. Senior Kaylynn Green took 3rd place, losing only to the National Champion in the semi finals. She Wrestled great, pinning all but one of her opponents. Freshman Layla Frances also wrestled great and finished 6th in the state. This is an amazing accomplishment for a first year wrestler, much less a freshman. Junior Jesse McCaslin finished the season top 12 in the state. We were very proud of our student-athletes. Both teams finished top 15 in the state.
