Weatherford ISD is proud to announce Aubrey Sims as head football coach/athletic director.
“We welcome Aubrey Sims to Kangaroo Nation as Weatherford High School’s head football coach/athletic director,” WISD Superintendent Dr. Beau Rees said.
“We believe he is the right fit for our athletic program. Coach Sims has 23 years in education including 16 years’ of experience as head football coach/athletic director with an overall record of 132-62. He has a solid record of building winning athletic programs, but more importantly, he has a heart for kids. Coach Sims is committed to developing student athletes who represent Weatherford ISD with the Roo Pride.”
Coach Sims comes to Weatherford from Iowa Park where he served as head football coach/athletic director. His career as head football coach spans three school districts:
Iowa Park High School (2014-2021)

Coach Sims and his wife Nikki have been married 23 years. They have two daughters: Reagan attends Oklahoma State University and Rylie is a high school sophomore.
“My family and I are excited to join the Weatherford community and I look forward to meeting our students, coaches, staff, and community,” Sims said. “I am focused on taking our programs to the next level by establishing a culture of excellence while embracing the traditions of the Weatherford Kangaroos.”
In the coming weeks, Coach Sims will be visiting with coaches and students to prepare for the spring season.
