Last night the Freshman White and Blue teams hosted the North Crowley Panthers and the Everman Bulldogs in two very physical games. The night started with the Freshman White taking on North Crowley as they saw a very physical North Crowley team come out of the gates aggressively scoring early on Punt Returns and Long gains. The Roos fought hard the whole game as they never showed any quit battling till the last second on the scoreboard. Some standouts for the game consist of Cameron Davis 1 reception for 39 yards and Dane Spooner who carried the ball 15 times into what seemed to be a brick wall of defenders. The White Roos will be back at it next Thursday night as we travel to Paschal.
The night concluded with the Freshman Blue Roos dominating their home field from the opening kickoff handing the Everman JV Football team a loss by the final score of 21-8. The Roos got going early as the Defense got an early stop thanks to big plays by Jackson Thompson and Brandon Hutto on the Defensive Line as they spent a majority of the night in the offensive backfield making big time plays. The Offense took their first three possessions of the game scoring quick and often. The first score consisted of a QB sneak from one yard out after a big throw for 28 yards from CJ Thornton to Xavier Holder placed them on the one yard line. The Roos would score their second touchdown of the night after two great catches from Thornton to Isaac Chapa totaling 39 yards as Chapa first took a 27 yard pass over the top of the defender and then finishing off his second catch on a great catch crossing the goal line for a 12 yard gain and 14-0 lead. The defense held big right before the half as they gave the offense the ball again. With only 41 seconds on the clock and 83 yards away from the endzone the Roos took three plays to cover the distance as 3 straight completions by Holder, Britton Burrows and Holder again covered the 83 yards capped by an acrobatic 40 yard catch and run as Holder fought to keep his balance after being twisted around for the TD. The Roos played great keep away with the ball in the second half as they worked the run game with Joseph Polk behind great gains behind the offensive line led by Xavier King and Beau Burleson. The Roos are now 3-0 in District Play and 4-2 on the year. They will be at Paschal next week looking to go 4-0 in district.
